About Trace Architects
Trace Architects creates refined, contemporary homes that are deeply connected to their surroundings. Through a multi-disciplinary approach integrating architecture, interiors, and landscape, we craft spaces that are cohesive, expressive, and enduring.
Founded by Giles Lovegrove and Kristian Rapallini, the practice is built on over two decades of experience across leading UK and international firms. With studios in London and Henley-on-Thames, we specialise in high-end residential projects, from new-build homes and heritage restorations to architecturally ambitious extensions.
Our Approach
Each project begins with a careful study of context, materiality, and light, ensuring that every home is thoughtfully designed to enhance both its surroundings and the lives of those who inhabit it. Our work is shaped by three defining principles:
• Contextual sensitivity – Every design is a response to place, seamlessly integrating with the landscape and architectural language of the site.
• Material integrity – We use materials that age beautifully, from natural stone and timber to concrete and metal, ensuring both aesthetic longevity and durability.
• Seamless integration – Architecture, interiors, and landscape are conceived together, creating spaces that feel intuitive, natural, and timeless.
A Legacy of Thoughtful Design
Influenced by Geoffrey Bawa, Jean Prouvé, Glenn Murcutt, and Tom Kundig, our work embraces a layered, tactile aesthetic where craftsmanship, form, and function merge effortlessly. Projects such as Fairfax Road and Skyline House showcase our dedication to detail, material contrast, and spatial fluidity.
At Trace Architects, we believe great architecture is not just about design—it’s about creating homes that stand the test of time. Each project is a collaboration, where our expertise meets our clients’ vision to craft spaces that are as liveable as they are beautiful.
